T5 need help on info
i am looking to upgrade my tranny
Is the output Shaft of a WC the same as a NWC but with bearings for the first second and third gear?
I am talking about the V6 unless they are the same as the V8 in diamiter.
Thanks
Raymond

No. The shaft is somewhat different. That's not where the upgrade is anyway: it's the countergear bearings. The bearings on 1st and 2nd are there for gas mileage. They allow the gear to spin more freely on the shaft when the trans is in some other gear, which reduces loss in the trans. It has nothing to do with strength.

Well what I am trying to do is put a 95 3.4 camaro motor in my 89 s10. The s10 with stock 2.8 were NWC. I don't think they would hold the power of my 3.4 that I have installed 1.6.1 rockers on it.
So my thought find a 94-95WC 3.4 t5 and change the out putshaft to fit a 4x4.
Any advice on what to do?
Thanks for the help

You can't cut them.
I doubt any 6-cylinder motor is going to be that much of a threat to a T-5 if the biggest change to it is 1.6 rockers. And, the mainshaft in the 2nd design trans is no larger than the one in the older kind. The "upgrades" that come in the "World Class" trans don't include a stronger mainshaft.
If I were you I'd just do the motor swap and be done with it, leave the trans alone if at all possible.

I know the out put shaft isn't any stronger, but the first second and third gears are because they ride on the bearings.
The sycros are better in the WC T5. They have a friction on the syncros to slow the gear so you don't grind when shifting harder.
the 3.4 motor is going to be putting out at more torque than the tranny can handle.
The v6 older can only handle arround 150 torqe. I need something stronger and don't want to spend a bundle when I don't have to.
I have talked to quit a few other poeple that have done this mod and the trannies went out.
My truck I will not drive granny style I race people and don't want to have to take out the tranny again.
The tranny is already out and taken apart and the main drive gear is already shot and I mean shot. I will also be running 30in tires
Thanks thought
I am not a amature and i have been working on cars for sometime now and have rebuild Automatic trannys and manuals are easier.
Anywhere that would be able to cut the shaft and cut the noties in it so it will fit my 231 transfer case.
Thanks
