transmission mounts
question on the transmission mounts in 1987. The only mount i had when i changed my fluid was one that went from frame to frame behind the pan on the transmission near the driveshaft. Are there supposed to be mounts above the tranny or on the sides?

A little bit will do ya
Just the one on the tail-stock. Also the torque arm is bolted the the tailstock with a bushing, but it's there to locate the torque arm, not the tranny.
FYI-you can change that mount without taking down the cross-member if you jack the rear of the tranny up.

you must be used ot wrenching on 3 and 4 speed manual trucks era 72-older or front wheel drive cars or something, those are about the only vehicles with side tranny mounts/technically referred to as rear motor mounts on old trucks, they used cast iorn bell housing, all are same pilot bearing retainer diameter '68-'72,. 67-older was smaller on SM318 trans. larger on SM420, Ch465 and SM326 trans
good luck
