Car: 1986 Trans Am WS6
Engine: Mild 350 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Will my tranny need a rebuild?
I called a shop the other day about getting my engine replaced and he said that the 700R4 Transmition will need to be rebuilt because it has been sitting for 8 months. My uncle is a mechanic and used to own it, he checked everything out before i got the car and the transmition was fine. Will it need to be rebuilt?

Transmission: Probuilt 700R4 - 2800 Stall Midwest
Axle/Gears: 3.42
My car sat outside for almost 2 years before I had the engine rebuilt in it. I didn't have the transmission rebuilt. That was 3 years ago. So, I would say no, you don't have to have it rebuilt, just serviced.
