Just a couple T-56 speedo ?'s

Hey guys!
I am almost done building my new 350 and will soon be installing it, along with my t-56 in my '84 T/A. I have a few questions though. First off, how many pulses per mile does the VSS in my t-56 put out (it's a '93 tranny)? Second, how many pulses per mile does my speedo want to receive (it's a 1990 firebird speedo)? Third, do I need the Dakota Digital box AS WELL AS the factory speedo buffer box from the 1990 firebird? I have bought both, but if I don't need the factory one I think I will try and return it since it cost $50! If you guys could help me out with this I'd really appreciate it!!! Thanks a bunch!

You will need the factory buffer box. You will also need the Dakota digital. When I installed the T56 in my '89 Formula I just placed the Dakota dig. unit inline between the t56 and the exitsting wires that went to the old 700R4. A damn problem that I have now is that I pick up ignition interference somewhere and my speedo become a tach when the car is idiling. It sucks. I can't seem to get rid of the interference no matter how I wire it.

Email if you have any more questions.

The electric speedos are 4,000 pulse.

The Dak box will convert the tranny pulses to the correct pulse for your speedo. A friend (who posted) has had some trouble getting the ECM the right signal via the Dak box, but you didn't mention an ECM.

Thanks guys! So the speedo needs 4000 pulses, and the tranny is a lot higher than that right? I didn't mention an ECM because my car is an 84 and with my new 350 most of the ECM stuff is not going to be hooked up therefore I am not concerned with getting a speedo signal to the ECM. Hopefully I'll get this stuff all hooked up soon, assuming I can find a connector for the VSS on the T-56 tranny.... Thanks for the help so far, and I appreciate any more help anyone can provide!
