Hey probuilt, seeing as how youall are the forum tranny experts maybe you can point me in in the right direction.
my trans is slow to shift (700r4).
It has no OD, and tends to hold 1st until 4000rpm and then doesnt shift until you back off the throttle even if you werent at full throttle in the first place. This really bites the big one cuz my other cars tranny is also malfuntioning ( Dodge Intrepid ) So I have been driving my Camaro since then.
I think what did it in was that I was about 200 miles out of town when I slammed on the brakes to avoid squishing a deer and chucked a pad, so I was using the tranny to help slow the car down so that I wouldnt have to use the brakes so much. I drove her straight home and did the brakes, but the next day the OD started to slip, and since then has gone out completely. When the shifter is in OD, the tranny will release when you let off the throttle (drops to idle) When the shifter is in 3 it does not drop to idle when decelerating. One thing I noticed is that when it is in 1, it will shift to 2nd. It also is really slow to engage reverse.
So thats it in a nutshell, what do you think it could be, and whats it gonna cost me.
