Bad Trans? How Do I Know?
Bad Trans? How Do I Know?
I have a 1992 Firebird with 70,000 miles and i'm thinking i have a bad transmission. it's jumpy when i first step on the gas, but if i ease onto the gas there is no jump. it feels as if there is a big rock rolling around in the back well when i first take off. anyone know what this might be? is it common for the birds trans to die early?

I found the problem...
I got under the car, pushed up on the rear of the transmission tail, just behind the crossmember. it's broken, the transmission lifted off of the crossmember. Anyone know if this is any easy fix? If i did it myself it'd be prob. like $65. but i wonder what kind of mess i'm gonna get myself into by doing it myself. anyone have any suggestions?

Very easy. Every one of these cars breaks its mount, it's one of the stupidest things GM put in these cars.
Get an Energy Suspension one. Much less than $65, replace it once and forget it.
