building up a 700r4
a little back ground...
my 82 Z got t-boned in march so I bought an 88 sc that needed a tranny... I put my 700 in that car and now I have this 88 700r4 from that car that I want to build up for my other car (68 camaro)...
the cam that is in this car needs a stall aroud 2800-3000... its got an 8.5 ten bolt with a 3.73 gear rear end but I have a 3.42 for it as well...
what I need is a parts list... and sugestions of what to do and the purpose for doing it...
I will be driving the car a lot in the summer and taking it to the track on the weekends... I want to be able to tune the trans and have a lock-up converter capability... also want to be able to maintane high speed in overdrive...
best bang for the buck but want good reliable parts (if that isn't a contradition in terms)...
if ya got good ideas or parts pm me or post to this thread...
I will be collecting parts over the winter as funds become available so I figured its time to collect info...
thanx in advance...

okay... how about what not to do... I have been running manual trannies for the most part and they are fun... but know its time to get more trophy's... and I want to drive the car to the track (30 miles) as well as some street cruizing... want to keep the top end speed available... going to have the LT1 conversion on a 327 (maybe a 350) ported L98 vette heads 11:1 compression 3.73 gears... this thing is gonna be cool if I get it set up right... chasis mods will be there as well... and I will be tuning it by prom burning....
I can do all this just need some pointers on the tranny...

rebuild and upgrade... it lost 3rd and fourth gear...
there will be a 350-400hp smallblock in front of it... the cam is going to require a 2800-3000 stall... the rear enf will be 3.73's
its going to see some track time and summer cruizing/bruizing...
need a list of parts and do's and don't... links for info would be cool to...

deffinately do a transgo reprogrammer kit (get the deluxe kit from pro built). i got a heavy duty rebuild kit by tci from jegs. get yourself a nice ratchet shifter, like a b&m megashifter or hurst dual gate. i did all of this and hoping it works for the best (its my frist tranny rebuild, but got a th350 sitting in the garage just in case all does not go as planned)
I carry everything that is needed to do this right the first time. If I can be of help?, call me at 800 7763288 M-S 10-6 PST, or go to my website at www.pro-built.net Let me know?
