I have yet to do a gear swap, even though I'm doing one shortly. But from what I've heard, yeah, it'll be pretty noticeable. I don't know what gear ratios are available for the 9 bolt, but most people with TPI seem to be happier with 3.42s on a daily driver.

I think you need 3.27s with a nine bolt. Or 3.45s, if that is where you want to go.

Ten bolts use 3.23 and 3.42.

I'd suggest the 3.45s. I have just put in 3.42s and really like them. Much better because you are in the powerband so much quicker and TPI engines don't rev very high, so you can hit fast quarter mile and highway speeds. And still get decent mileage with overdrive both in town and on the highway.

3.73s start to gobble the gas no matter where you are.

thx guys..... yeah i was figuring that something around the 3.42s would work.... so 3.45 is what i will probably get.... you know where i can get some of those for a decent price??

Summit, Richmond gears, and you'll need an installation kit too.

The new gear sets I offer for the 9 bolt are 3.23's, not 3.27's. I also have ratios of 3.45, 3.73 (NOT 3.70) and 4.10 along with other 9 bolt stuff. It's all here at www.9bolt.com
