Help. Posi isn't posi anymore!!

I noticed today that my once posi rearend is no longer spinning both wheels. I have a BW 9-bolt with 3.27's and disk brakes. What do I need to do to fix it? Any clutches, etc., that can be replaced? Thnx for any replies.

never had a 9 bolt apart but i believe it's a clutch type posi, also springs can wear or break. pull the cover and take a look, see if there's anything jumps out at you that's broken.

I noticed the same on my bw 3.27 rear at the track and freaked. An older fella running prostock told me to back up about five feet then get back into 1st and pull forward to do a burnout. It worked! I thought I was in serious trouble. *this probably has nothing to do with yours, but I wanted to share the simialar experience

In case this helps anyone: The posi loss was gradual. When it first started,it would spin both wheels, then only one, then both, one, etc. all in one take off. It gradually started spinning more and more of one wheel, and now it's just like an open differential. Within about a month,it went from posi,to posi sometimes, and finally to only spinning one wheel. Does this help anyone come up with an idea of what might have happened?I just want to get some ideas, cuz it will be another week before I'll get a chance to pull the cover off.

Sounds like the posi is worn out. I have new posi units available at www.9bolt.com
