Making 88 style 9 bolt backing plates fit a moser Ford 9"

A few people have told me that I would need to use the 10 bolt backing plates to get everything to fit.I know this guy steve in brooklyn that has used his 9 bolt backing plates on a moser 12 bolt but his backing plates are 89 style and have the larger 11.65 rear disc, which also has the aluminum caliper which i dont want to use. So what should i do about this, just bring the rear and my backing plated to a machine shop and have them make it fit? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

You are supposed to use 9 bolt backing plates instead of 10 bolt. As far as the 88 versus 89 backing plates I don't see where it makes a difference as far as the axle is concerned. You are going to bore out the back side of the plate to leave room for the bearing extending from the housing. I don't remember the dimensions off hand but Moser can tell you their recommendations. Last time I did that I just measured the bearing and bored accordingly. Those were '88 9 bolt backing plates too by the way. You will also have to drill the backing plate for the Ford housing end retainer bolts. You could probably did up a little on the subject by searching.
