ls1 t56 to 502 ramjet
I just bought a ls1 t56 and just read the article to fit it to a non ls1 engine. I have the bellhousing with it. What do I need to fit it to a Ramjet? Why does it say to change the input shaft and bellhousing to make it fit. Is there anyother way?

You would have been better off getting the LT1 tranny. Probably still better off. Sell the LS1 and get the LT1 piece... Or spend big bux and a lot of hunting time and ripping into the tranny to change the input shaft.
You need an LT1 input shaft, clutch fork, flywheel, pressure plate and bellhousing. No other way.
I'm a little rusty on the ramjet, but if it is a two-piece rear main seal, you will also need a custom aftermarket flywheel as the LT1 only works with 1 piece RMS.
Also make sure to install a pilot bushing/bearing into the end of the crankshaft. Moroso makes a roller unit that costs about $14.

The bolt pattern on the BH where it bolts to the engine is different on the LS1... that BH won't bolt to your motor. You might be able to use a motor plate; but the smart thing to do would be to sell that unit, and buy a LT1 one which will be cheaper, and use the profit for drivetrain work.
I was informed that the input shaft on the LS1 is longer than that of the LT1 T56s. You can read about it in the thread I posted a few days ago. What is different about the T56s

i've seen plenty of LS1's at work, and the bolt pattern looks like any other SBC, except there is one bolt not used on the pattern.................
