Pinion Seal???

Hi guys,

I have a 1991 Z28 5.7 TPI and found out that my pinion seal is going out. Anyone ever changed one? If you have, how hard was it? Thanks!

you need to make a tool to hold the pinion yoke, flat steel with holes in it, or use a big pipe wrench if you don't care what it looks like. measure the distance from the flat of the pinion shaft to the top of the nut with a depth mike or dial caliper scribe a match mark on the nut and pinion, rear end, yoke or whatever works for you. remove nut, remove seal, reverse and you're all set. put some greese on the lips of the seal so you don't burn it up when you first start up. line the match marks up plus one flat of the nut more, measure the depth for a double check, buy a new nut too.
