hard to shift when tranny heats up...suggestions?

Im not the most mechanicly inclined peson in the world so please take it easy on me,
lately, ive been having to use alot of force when shifting after the car heats up, it seems to not be so tough when its cool, but seems to be more and more of a bitch as the car heats up, its getting irritating, ive even developed a callus on my right hand from the damn thing, all i know to do is throw some gear oil in the beast, but i fgured id ask you guys first to see if there is anything else i should do/check. BTW its an 89 RS 2.8L manual tranny obviously.
thanks for any help

It really sounds like the fluid is burnt. If I were you I would just change the fluid, it should be ATF unless someone went with an early model 5speed. Either way go with some full synthetic oil, syn reduces friction and will keep the transmission a bit cooler that might help you out.
