Opinions needed, I think my trannys dead:(

Its a 700r4 and heres the low down. before it wouldn't even hold first gear, everytime I took my foot off the gas it would hit nuetral. I adjusted the shift linkage to the best of my ability(better directions would make it a lot easier) and now it will hold first throughout the rpm band but it still won't upshift in drive. it just shifts from 1st to neutral.

I thought my clutched burned out or something so I took off the drain pan. there wasn't any debris though so I don't know if its just an adjustment issue or what. HELP!

~thanks

Is the pan still off? Cut open your old filter; use angle cutters to separate the metal side from the plastic side. Unfold the filter paper.. look for big piles of metal...

How did the fluid look/feel/smell? Brown/gritty/cooked? Or red/slippery/like oil?

You did have tranny fluid in it? If you are low the tranny will not shift or not shift right. Driving it like that can burn up the clutches
