My friend has some 3.42s that I want to use with a zexel posi from SLP which is 3 series. Will these gears work with this posi Or do I have to buy new gears? They are from a 89 v6 camaro.

I believe that 3.08 and numerically smaller is the considered 2 series carrier and 3.23 on up is the 3 series. Look in a Summit or Jegs and that will tell ya for sure.

what gears were the posi set up for originally? I took 2 rear ends to make the one I have now and had to order a $67 spacer out of Arizona since the 3.42 gear went onto a 2 series posi unit.

if they're 3.42 then they'll fit a 3 series carrier/posi
