I'm getting ready to put a 350 producing about 400hp into my car in the late winter early spring. I wanted to get a stronger rear end to hold the torque. I was thinking along the lines of a 12 bolt 9". I know strange makes some good rears. Any suggestions on which 12 bolt to use? Anyone know of a good place to get a new one/professionally rebuilt one for cheap?

 

With 400hp, just run a 9 bolt. It'll be 1/2 the cost of a 12 bolt or 9 inch (~$2200+).

As long as you don't go to the track and use slicks every weekend...you can get away with that horsepower level on a 10 bolt also.Yes..a 9 bolt is stronger.I had my 10 bolt in my Z28 for 2 years after I rebuilt & modified it and even with occasional slick launches,it is still alive in my brother in laws '89 Iroc.Only reason I took it out is because I got a real good deal on a Moser 12 bolt from another member off the classifieds.You could always look into Strange or Moser for a 12 bolt or 9" also.Personal preference decides which one you get.
