whining rear
I'll do my best to explain the situation. The rear is from an 84.
The whining does'nt start until I am at slow cruising speed, say 35 MPH.
At that point, if I press the accelerator the slightest bit the whining stops. Also, if I let off the accelerator the whining stops.
It doesn't make any noise when I take off, slow or fast.
It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side and I am thinking it is the outer wheel bearing which isn't such a big deal. Or is it?
Are there any gear fluid additives available to quiet things down?
Thanks,
:hail:IROC-Z

As far as being a big deal, you will have to take the diff. cover off remove the cross pin and bolt, remove the c-clips and slide the axle out. You will need a slide hammer to remove the old bearing. Make sure it isn't any brake noise before tearing everything apart.
