sh!tty torque converter

i have an 89 formula 700r4 tranny. when driving around i can feel the torque converter locking and unlocking all the time, ihave changed the tcc switch and it still does it. if i wired the tcc switch to a switch inside the car so i can lock or unlock the torque canverter myself, would this work and when should i have it lockup and when should i unlock it?

You could just have the Lock-up speeds increased in the PROM so that it won't engage driving around town (unless your speeding).
Stock setting has the TCC lock up around 38 MPH.

arap too? I haven't messed with that part of the chip yet and my converter locks at 28, right after third gear shifts. Could be the tv cable setting. I know how it's supposed to be set, but that doesn't always work. I just built a new tranny with the transgo 2/3 kit. If you have a modified throttle valve, the stock setting may NOT be right for you. Try pulling it out 1 click and see if it helps you.

Ive been hearing and searching on this torque converter lockup switch, when should I have my switch engaged, like when im on the expressway cruising? Ive heard this is good for drag racing, i shift my car manually. Would this improve my et?
