SGI-5 on a T56/4.10 question

I'm thinking about buying a 91 Z28 from a guy I know.. he's got a T56 in it already, with 4.10 gears, but the speedo and odometer don't work because he doesn't have the SGI-5 box.. I already read most of the topics about these things, so I'm not going to ask how to wire it.. hehe.. but, is there anywhere else to get something like that? or is the dakota digital one best to get? can I get it anywhere else for cheaper? my other question.. I can't remember off the top of my head, but was it just a certain year when they started making electronic speedos? or is it an option? would a 91 Z28 have it or would I have to find out from an RPO code or something?

Thanks for any info..

All 90-92 camaros had an electric speedometer. The SGI-5 box is the only one that i know of that can convert the high T56 signal. The SGI-5 is pretty cheap at about 79.95 directly from dakota digital. It was 79.95 last year so it may have increase or decreased in price.
