What is avg. life of 700R4?
Well, just like the title said, what is the avg. life of a 700R4? I know it will vary some depending on how it was driven and all, but mine has 106,000 miles on it and I was wondering if its going to last a little longer or for a very long time.

I would have to say it depends on the owner..........If it's well maintained and not beat on it will last a heck of a lot longer then someone who doesn't give a damn about it and runs it into the ground.
My old firebird went over 100k with zero problem......untill the incident with the tree, OUCH
But my uncles camaro has over 200k on the orginal tranny........if that means anything to you.
Just take care of it and you'll be fine.

I converted to manual when my 700r4 had 128,000 miles, and it was working flawlessly when I took it out. I've heard that most trannys are designed to last til 100k, but I don't agree with that. If you replace the filter and oil like you should and you don't abuse the transmission, it should last ALOT longer. I'm not saying it can't break, just that it should last longer than 100k. Hell, my dad's work van (79 GMC) has about 400 thousand miles on the original engine and transmission. Granted, both are in desperate need of rebuilds, but this is 4 times as long as I've been told a tranny should last.
