t-5 doesn't go inot gear when on it..
hey guys i have a world class t-5 tranny in my 89 formula with a 350 makin about 350 horse and 385ft pounds of torque. Now everytime i get on it and i go to bang secoudn the tranny won't go into gear or i will have to pull it with all my might and it will go in. then it will be really hard to get into gear for a whiule then go away and shift perfect. now at first i thought this was just cause the tranny can't take the power but that doesn;t make sence why it woudl go back to normal. so then i thought clutch but my clutch has like 3 thousand miles on it and the pilot bearing and throw out bearing has 1000 miles on it so thasts not my prob. so wut coudl it be? are my hydraulics not able to fully engage my clutch when i am at high rpm? thanks

mine is a little tuff to get in second, one thing i found is that the t5 doesn't seem to like being shifted at high rpm, for instance out of 1st gear and into second when you are hammering on it. mine will normally grind for a split second in that situation. could be a bent/broken shift fork, bad synchro, etc....
or it could be that the left foot and right hand are not fully cooperating

ok guys well tonight i took off my slave cylender and filed down the plastic that goes against the belle houseing on the slave so it hold it closer and engaged more. also i was getting an anoying whistle every once in a while and this should cure it.. well i wen tot take it for a test drive u and down the highway and i was onit real hard liek 5 times. shiftin at lik 5200 and i grabed secound harder then ever be4. instead of a chirp it actually fishtailed a little and like jumped. now it works perfect the whole time but then i got to thinkin maybe heat is a major factor in this. maybe after drivin aroudn for a while then trying to get on it it will do it. well i will have to test this theory out. but also do u think maybe it could be sumtin with the hydraulics liek the fluid doesn;t work as well when hot?

I know when we were autocrossing and took a road racing school and ran around PIR (Portland Int. Raceway) we had brake fade. I switched fluid to a higher grade (don't remember which now-think is was from DOT 2 to DOT 3) but it made a major difference. Brake fade went completely away.
Since the slave cylinder is mounted on the bell housing that's plenty warm when the engine is running, coupled with being close to the exhaust you just might be onto something. I might just try switching myself and see if it makes a difference. Good thinking on your part. It's worth a try since it only cost a few bucks to do.
I just went through my T5 and I don't have any shifting problems at 5000-55000 rpm. But again, my syncros and everything inside are new. But will still try your idea.

Mine's hard to go into 1st or 2nd, but 3rd and up are fine. I replaced my throwout bearing and it helped some. I might try cutting off the plastic piece on the slave cylinder. Could my 1st and 2nd synchros be going out?
those plastic things on the slave cylider are supposed to break when you push down the clutch pedal to the floor.
if it isnt broken then that means your clutch isnt fully engaging/and disengaging and there might be your problem
