How much will the torque converter help?? And also other converter questions...

My current setup is in my sig. The current torque converter I have is an 11" TCI Breakaway converter with a 2200 RPM stall speed. Right now, the car pulls real hard from 3000-6000 RPM. Anything below 3000, however, is kind of a joke.

I just purchased a 9.5" ACT converter with a 2600 RPM stall speed (not yet installed). What kind of gain can I expect to see with this converter? In other words, how will the power feel at different RPMs now? Also, why is a smaller converter better? Thanks in advance.

If you have no traction now, forget about any gains. The point of a higher stall converter is to put you in your powerband sooner, and keep you there longer. But if you could not launch with your old setup, it will only get worse. If you can hook up, hang on to your hat! I have the 9.5" ACT converter, and its real nice, but I just can't launch. My 60ft times went from 2.0's to 2.3 with my street tires. Guess its time for some drag radials, of course it was Import vs Domestic night and you know how them ***** **** track sand and water to the start line thanx to their burnout-incapable econobox

Traction is not a problem for me. I've got all the suspension goodies and I can hook up just fine. So with this new converter, will it throw me back into the seat more? That's what I'm really looking for. Thanks.

Yeah, like I said, if you can hook, hang on to your hat. I have to wait untill I'm at least 10MPH before I nail it and sometimes I still spin. I have SFC, Spohn LCA and Panhard bar and Kumho 712 255/50/16 tires. Other than drag radials, I don't know what else to do

would this one be good?
Torque Converter, Lock Up 1986-91 Vette/1985-92 1993-94 Camaro/Firebird (2400)

would you recommend a tranny cooler they do? if so what one are you guys running?

would if be worth it to install an converter and cooler now or just

wait for the tranny to break? my tranny has the 72,000 original miles and runs real strong no slipping or nothing..

There is no chance of hooking up with a decent convertor without at least drag radials. ET streets or slicks are even better.
