New Parts

I met this guy (by racing him) and after he killed me, we started talking and he said he has a used 2000 stall converter that he can put in for $200 total that is with the parts and labor. He also said he has a set of used 3.73's but i didn't ask for the price on those. Do you think it would be worth like $350 for the gears and stall with labor, or should i just buy new parts maybe with a bigger stall or what. I have a stock 305 TBI and 2.73 limited slip (stock).
I am also thinking ahead, i am going to be rebuilding a mild 350 in the next year so maybe a bigger stall? - any advice would help.

2000 stall converter is damn near like stock, i'd pass on it. i'd be real careful about letting just any dumbass put a ring and pinion set in.

ede is correct. With the rear you have bearings, shims, etc., and it is not as easy as taking the old ones out and putting the new in. More money involved usually, like the install kit which comes with the bearings, shims, seal, etc. A good kit alone will set you back about $100.
