700r4 Reallllly Sloooow

I dropped the original 700r4 in my car, found one in a friend's 91 4.3L astrovan. Took the trans and the torque converter and bolted it all up to my car. I figured with the 325ft of torque my engine is supposed to be putting out, the stall should be equivalent to a 2400 stall converter. It was a PITA to get in. Tested it out tonight, granted the other had a shift kit and the new one doesn't, it STILL IS SLOW AS ****. At WOT, it shifts real low, takes forever to get up to speed. I ran 13.2@105 before, now i'm closer to 30 in the same timespan....I used to have a go-kart that went ALOT faster...it's like my friggin lawn mower now. ATF is where it should be, engine isn't any different, TV cable is hooked up how it has been.....I'm thoroughly stumped....any ideas what's wrong? It was faster in the van that my car.

I'm thinking the governor might need to be played with if it shifts too low. Remember, this is coming from an Astrovan that has a different powerband so it will have different shift points and your tranny will be calibrated for the van's motor. If your TV cable is adjusted right, try shifting manually at WOT where your old tranny used to shift to see if it picks up any.

My tranny was also from an astro van. The stock shift points are very low rpm. But, it's because it from a 4.3L tbi. Peak torque in the engine is 230 at around 2000rpm and peak horsepower is 165 at around 4000rpm. How does that compare to the engine it's behind now? I upgraded to a .5 boost valve and vette servo. Shifts very nice(but I do it manually if I need to go fast )
