is there a difference?

is there a difference between an 87 700-r4 and the 88-92 700r-4's?

most shops seem to explain how they use the 88-92 trans, why not 87?

Check the FAQ for this - the 88,89 and up 700's have quite a few modifications and are more computerized...

'87-'92 used the auxilary valvebody among many enhancements, however, '87 still used the earlier style valvebody. That made the '87 an imbred year. And of course, it used a spacer plate unique to the '87 Model year to make it all work.

well with everything aside; what is the real difference if you were to rebuild either?

i need to know as a someone would like to trade me a blow 87 700-r4 for mine that works since i need to rebuild one anyway; but mine is newer so i need to know if there is something hindering it or making it different or if it's only in stock applications that this is even a concern????

anyone?
