Car: 1988 camaro
Engine: 350 ci
Transmission: 700r4
differents?

Can any one tell whats the differents between v-6 trany and a v-8 trany. i have a 88 camaro that i would like to put a manual trany in it but right now it has a 700r4. i see a lot of v-6 camaro around here with manual.

The gear ratios are different; the 6-cyl trans has much wider ratios than the V8, so you get the same effect as the 700's 1st-2nd shift, except at every shift. And, the input shaft is smaller and has different splines, so it doesn't fit a V8 clutch.

You will also need to find a V8 bellhousing.

right at the time i dont have the money to put the tranny i want in it (richmond 6-speed) so i was thinking maybe what i can find in a junk camaro and have it rebuild. unless you guys know a of better way to do it pleace tell. i want a manual in there.
