How do you remove the shifter arm?

How do you remove the shifter arm?
I'm dropping my T5 out of the car too do some clutch work and i can not figure out how to remove the shifter arm. How does this damn thing come off?

You have to un bolt the entire shifter from the trans. Pull the shifter boot and whatever esle may be in the way, and the take out the 4 bolts that hold the shifter to the trans. Then it just pulls up and off. Be sure not to loose the little plastic bushing the shifter ball goes into.
On my car I have to pull the console up to get at the shifter boot bolts. It's a pain, but no other way to do it.

I've seen guys remove the shifter from underneath so they didn't have to pull the console. Just get the right 13mm wrench and it can be done.
Now that i think about it, I've only seen it done on 4th gens. It should be the same though.......
