Help an outsider - 97 Camaro 4L60E
I was told that there are some real transmission experts here and that they may be able to help me out. Please help a fellow Camaro owner who screwed up.
I just finished putting a Transgo Shift Kit in my 97 Camaro 4L60E and now I have a problem. Maybe someone knows what I did wrong and can help me out a bit. Now the car will barely move (I did check the fluid level and it looks good, no leaks and no spare parts that should have gone in). I didn't get it out of my driveway because reverse barely moves the car and the forward gears are just as bad if not worse. When I had it up on jackstands I ran it through the gears and reverse seemed to be real slow and mushy engaging and the forward gears much the same. The shift from 1st to second did work but I am not sure of 3rd or 4th. I know it is not easy diagnosing things like this but maybe I pulled a common bonehead stunt and someone knows what it is. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen alot of people tear the seals trying to force the filter up into the pump body. I have seen a lot of "aftermarket" filters not having the chamfer that the GM filters have, and this is propbably why the seals get ripped. Pull the pan off, take the filter out and look up into the hole that the filter fits into and see how the seal looks. Also make sure that the Boost valve and pressure regulator assembly is still in the pump. If you didn't get the snap-ring seated right, it may have shot out and be laying in the pan.
Yep, I guess I didn't get the snap ring seated properly, damn my old eyes. It was sitting there with the springs when I dropped the pan last night. I couldn't find the snap ring but I will look again today with better light. Thanks.
Found the snap ring. It was inside the filter, had to cut the filter open to finally find it.
I had a chance to do some testing and all seems well. I like the way it works.
Dana, thanks for the offer of help, that was very considerate of you. And thanks to all for letting an outsider put up a question and not jumping on me.
