I just resently installed a used 700R4 into my 85 camaro.Supposelly it came out of a working car. The problem is that the car wont shift. it goes up to 2000 rpms and it seems to go into neutral. until the speed goes back to 0 mph then it works again.

 

Sounds like you got it from junkyard. Every tranny they sell "worked GREAT when removed"

Can you tell what gear it feels like "neutral" after? Is there a 1-2 shift?

 

It doesnt get out of first gear. it goes up to about 10 mph and seems to go to nuetral.
