Transmission Shifting Problem, HELP!

This is buging the heck out of me!!!

On my 92 GTA, I've adjusted the TV cable about 6 times now, some times by pulling the throttle from under the hood to adjust and other times using the pedal to match the geometry. My shifting is STILL screwed up!

What it does is it will shift perfect from 1st to 2nd, nice and firm and I can hold it to about 4500, perfect right? Well the 2nd to 3rd shift is all messed up! If I let it shift from 2nd to 3rd below 2800 RPM, it's nice and firm, the way I like it. But if the RPM's are any higher it slips up in RPM's allot before shifting, the higher the RPM's, the more the RPM slippage.

What the heck do I try now??????

I want my 1st to 2nd the way it is now but I want to be able to shift from 2nd to 3rd at WOT with my RPM's at 4500 with no slippage, just nice and firm.

Also, it seems like right now it will hold 1st gear longer before shifting too if that helps any.....

Maybe its not a "shifting" problem, but a clutchpack problem. Perhaps the 3-4 clutches have just enough left to hold under part throttle, but slip the more gas you give it. It sounds like you won't even have a 2-3 shift before to long. Does the fluid smell burnt?

Crap that would suck!

No, my tranny fluid is perfect. I had Mobil 1 and it was just fine when I switched to Royal Purple a month or so ago and the Royal Purple doesn't smell burnt.

You know what, come to think of it the problems started when I went from whatever was in the car when I bought it to the Mobil 1. I know it couldn't be anything I did during the change because when I went to Royal Purple and made 100% sure everything was perfect and I still am having the problem.

My tranny only has 102K miles and it's been very treated. Do you think that going from non-synthetic to full synthetic tranny fluid would create a problem being such high milage? I really don't want it to be and internal problem.....

Do you think I should spend the big $$$ for a full out tranny flush using the Royal Purple to make sure I have all of the old stuff out of there, maybe the combination of different fluids if causing the problem....

we get buicks driven by little old ladies that come into work that sometimes need a trans overhaul within warranty time (36,000 miles)

mileage doesnt really mean anything, especially with a 700R4

First, put in the Corvette servo if the fluid, clutches, & band are not burnt. Second, put in one of my Trans-Go Performance Shift kits if you want to get 3rd gear WOT shifts. Third, get rid of the Royal Purple and stick with the Mobil One. From what the tech people tell me the RP is 1960's technology, and does not hold up well in their tests.
