Bad Ujoint question

my front ujoint is bad and sounds horrible when you give the car some power.. my question is
tomorrow i need the car for like 8 miles, if i go REAL easy on the car and not go over 40mph is it safe to drive??

from a dead stop if you give it about half throttle it will CLUNK and if you floor it in 1st to 2nd gear shift it will squeel..

so i'm guessing if i go extremely easy, it will take me the 8 miles i need to go??

Probably...

On the other hand, have you ever seen what happens when the fron of the drive shaft drops and hits the pavement? It basically makes the rear end of the car do a pole vault. I had (note I said had) a friend riding in the back seat of a car when that happened....

Very risky behavior. Russian Roulette for all proactical purposes. Is a chance on your life worth 8 miles?

The work truck I drove all summer had a banging and squeaking u joint that never broke. On the other hand recall all the times that we have said it'll be fine till I... and then lived to regret it. That wasn't my truck and if it was I NEVER would have driven it. Can't you borrow a car or have a friend take you if it is only 8 miles?
