Torque Convertor Help
Torque Convertor Help
heres my deal, i need a torque convertor and im a little unsure of what i need. here are some specs on my engine, if anyone educated in this subject could give me some recommendations. also, do i have to pull the engine or tranny to change it?
383 with currently stock heads (will be changing soon), Crower Hydraulic cam 112* .462"/.470" (crower recommends going 500-700 over stock TC), forged crank and rods, KB hyper. 10:1, Street avenger 670, Torker intake (will also be changed to perf. rpm probably). I have a TH-400 which i was told was non-lockup by a member here. i have a dual bolt pattern flywheel. any other info needed?

Thanks for posting. the rear is a 3.73, but it doesnt have posi, i can smoke my pass. side tire all day long, but nothing from driver side, but anyways, the cam duration at .050 is 218*/226*. the adv duration is 278*/284*.
I mainly use the car for street driving, i live 15 miles out of a small town so i see alot of highway. but once i get into town i tend to get on the throttle a little bit. the car hasent seen the strip yet, but it will probly once a month this spring. i will be moving to pheonix this summer, so i will see alot of city driving and i like to launch off of the light, but i dont want 6 m.p.g. either. Thankyou for the replies. any other info needed?

I would go with the A.C.T. 9.5" lockup with apx. 2,400-2,500 rpm stall with your combination. This will keep the gas mileage the same on the freeway, and with just a little loss around town. They go for $565.00 and come with a one year warranty and a free stall change if necessary. Let me know?
