Heal toe
Wasn't for me.
That was the first modification I did on my car. For me I couldn't drive the car correct....so to me it was untolerable. Pull'd the throttle arm/pedal out first day, vice & torch, bent to my liking. Every car I own or have own'd (w/ manual) has the classic brake pedal wear marks.
Where I'm coming from:
Have always down shifted from day one using that foot dance, my older brother taught me to drive, he had been racing SCCA for two years and a regional champ, so he thought if he got me using high performance driving techniques from day one I'd have a good chance to become a professonal driver. He thought his short coming was a late start (22). So, I was all but 13 driving his TR-250 side-ways in the school parking lot (kart racing wasn't big here in the 70's)on non race weekends. Now my son (10) is racing a speedway kart.....the saga continues...one of these days one of our clan is going to make a living solely by driving.
Also it will make your T-5/56/3550 live longer

It means you can put more braking power to the rear then someone that slips the clutch on down shift (drivetrain load braking).
You ever down shifted and the rear axle hopped? thats the rear wheels slowing down too the drivetrain rpms...not good for parts at the least..let alone the slow way around a track, especially on a live axle car.
With foot work you can match the complete drivetrain rpms during a down shift, kinda making the engine/trans catch up to the rear wheels, using the brakes not the DRIVEtrain. A buddy at work thought racers were blipping the throttle to keep the carb cleared.... ha ha. If you do it right you don't need to use the clutch pedal, even/especially on a T-5 (lives longer), *** gave that left foot for getting out of the pits(clutch) and trail-braking!!!
It takes time to break bad habits. Start slow build speed...
Hit those parking lots and roads with runoff areas (no trees/armco)...and rain will do wonders for stopping over-driving.
Have fun....you have'em protecting that inside soon, killing their exit speed!!!!
