HI FROM LOUISIANA BEFORE I TEAR MY TRANS APART PLEASE HELP IT IS A 700 R4 WITH 13 VANE PUMP HARD SPRAG GOOD CLUTCHES NON LOCK 3000 NOS CONVERTOR ETC...... IT WORKS FINE SHIFTS FINE FROM A STOP WILL KICK DOWN IN PASSING GEAR NO PROBLEM BUT IF YOU TRY TO DOWN GEAR FROM 4 TO 3 OR 4 TO 2 OUR ANY DOWN SHIFT IT SEEMS LIKE IT GOES IN NEUTRAL THAN GRADUALLY GOES IN GEAR SOMETIMES IT DOESNT GO IN AT ALL, BUT IF YOU GAS ON IT IT SEEMS TO GO IN TO GEAR BUT WHEN YOU LET OFF BACK TO FREE SPINNING AGAIN , UNDER RACING CONDITIONS IT SHIFTS FINE UNTIL YOU TRY TO DOWN SHIFT WITH THE SHIFTER IT GOES CRAZY , HAVE ADJ THE SHIFTER STILL DOES IT ONLY WHEN TRYING TO DOWN SHIFT ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT PAUL REED

Sorry i cant help with your tras problem im not to good with tras work,but where is ball cause i to am from louisiana. i live about 35 min from new orleans in vacherie . i also have an 89 FORMULA
i just figured i would say hi.

 

Well, honestly I would give you an answer if I had one. I havent even rebuilt a auto before. The most I have done with them is putting in a corvette servo and different boost valves. I do know that there is a different boost valve for when the shifter is in first and second then for when it is in drive so I guess if one was installed improperly some how that it could be not applying pressure right when you down shifted manually. Like I said though I dont know much about autos so I may as well have just made that up. Does the car function fine if you take off from a stop with the shifter in the first position and manually go to second and third?
