A 700R4 is 30 3/4" long from the bellhousing to the back of the tranny. A 4" tailshaft TH400 is 28 1/4" long. Assuming you're keeping the stock diff, the driveshaft will need to be lengthened 2 1/2".
You could try using the 3" longer driveshaft from a 82-83 third gen with the 3 speed TH200.
