What to do about a sticky manual?
Ok, About a month back, I was merging onto the highway and was going to fast on the on ramp to merge into the traffic, so i down shifted into 4th. I merged and plled my car into the left lane, shifting into 5th. Well Im not sure what happened, but it didnt go all the way into 5th, the stick looked like it was somewhere lost between. Well I dropped the trans and had my dad look at the trans, turns out the plastic pads were worn out really bad on the forks, so he put some older ones on from the rebuild that still worked good. Well, I was playing around with my friend on jefferson st ( notorious for street races), and We lined up at the light. He has a 1996 z24 with a rebuilt 2.4liter engine, has high flow cats, 2.5 inch exhaust to a glasspack (aka coffee can), has a cone filter hooked straight up to intake, no piping or tubing, relocated temp sensor, NGK spark plugs, no spare tire or backseat, and aeromotive fuel pump. All this brings his stock 156hp up to 178hp on a 2k lbs car. The light turns green, and i drop the clutch at about 2,500, spinning my tires into 2 and 3rd. Well, he just chirped his tires and he was about 1 car behind me the whole time, spinning my tires. I hooked up and took off, i put about 3 car length between us and shifted into fifth. It bogged alittle, so I dropped it into 4th, and guess what. It tried sticking like it had done before. I had replaced the clutch when i dropped the trans the first time, so im not sure. I wiggled it a million times and it finally broke lose. What was all that? Someone shed some light into my dark room...
