I was told once by somone who used to race the old muncie rocke crushers with reverse removed etc.. that the synchros in those trannies were MADE to go from 1-2-3-4. skipping a gear can wear out the synchros REAL quick he said,
I asked him about NEW trannies he said that it didnt matter on those, just the real old ones with the old racing synchros.
I dont know if this helps but its what I've been led to beleive. If you ask me, going from 1-2 is the same as going from 2-4. or 3-5. or 1-5. or whatever. why would your tranny care what gear your going to from where??
i mean if your downshifting somtimes you go from 5th to 2nd right? like when you brake hard and wana put it back into gear?
