26 spline to 28
I have an 89 IROZ with 26 spline axles, I have a chance to get a good posi carrier for the 28 spline axles, I was wondering if I got 28 spline axles from the junkyard, would they work when I put the carrier in? same axle bearings?

There is a good chance being that your car is a 89, that it already has 28 spline axles. Have you taken it apart already to varify that indeed you have 26 spline???

You'll need to find a 90-92 third gen to be able to get 28 spline axles that will fit. It might be easier to just buy new 28 spline axles.

I bought Moser 28 spline axles and I'm very happy with them. 20% stronger than stock and a perfect fit.

LOL, I got Superior Axle and Gear 28 Spline axles 30% stronger than OEM, and a helluva lot stronger than the 26's I had in there....although my axles so no signes of wear, or abuse...I did it as part of the 10 bolt buildup lol.

Corry,
Any chance you have the PN of those "Superior" axles that you purchased or better yet the exact dimensions of them (length, diameter etc..). I've called around and everyone says that i have to measure my originals before they make any new ones. Not happening because my car is in storage until April and I want to purchase axles now. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

That's the nice thing about Superior axles... they're not "custom", they're manufactured before they're hardened, so they're altogether better in a stock configuration than a "custom" axle...... no measuring required
