Used Gears
Is there any problem with installing used gears in a rear end? My brother told me that within the 1st 10 miles of a set of rear gears being driven, that they "seat" themselves within the housing, and that therefore a set of used rear gears may never work properly when reinstalled in another rear end. That they may make noise.
I'd like to get new gears (currently 2.73 peg leg) and see them used at quite a savings over new. Can anyone comment on any potential problems with used gears?

GM says you can't make adjustments after 50 miles, but one thing is for sure, its a low number.
With that being said, if you buy used gears or pull them from the junkyard, take a dial indicator and gear marking compound. As long as you get the gear pattern and backlash like the housing it came out of, you should have no problems.
