Transmision cooling line - ??rubber??
if it's reenforced you might get buy with it but i wouldn't use regular fuel line. actually i wouldn't use it at all. chrysler used two short pieces to connect the lines to the coolers in the 60s and 70s, not sure when or if they ever quit.

The best thing to use, besides actually doing it right, would probably be power steering return hose, or hydraulic hose. Any kind of fuel line won't stand up to the heat for long. At least the heavier-duty hose will delay the inevitable sudden fountain of trans fluid while driving down the road.
They do make heavy duty trans cooler line that would work ok, I just did my external filter and cooler and used it. I believe the size was 3/8", looks like fuel line but re-enforced very well. Usually sells for about $2-$3 a foot and is made exclusively for transmission coolers.

Also, plan on either flaring the ends slightly and double clamping the connections...
I have used the rubber "transmission" hose sold at auto parts stores and it seems to work just fine...remember to be careful routing it away from manifolds/headers...
