How much time for shop to do 5spd swap?
I am having a speed shop do my auto to 5 speed swap in about 2 weeks. I don't want to mess with it without a lift in this freezing cold. Sooo...How many hours should I expect them to charge me for a complete swap? They would be removing the auto trans, then swapping in new clutch/brake pedals & hydraulics, new clutch & new Tremec 5 speed. They guesstimated 10 hours, but I know they can do it much quicker. What do you think is fair at a reputable speed shop?

Your treading on thin ice. Like said above, most shops won't touch it, but if you found a shop that agreed to do it, your at their mercey, because although you are using OEM parts, its still a CONVERSION, so you won't find a flat-rate time in ANY Labor Time Guide. 10 hours is probably a close guess, but I'd be willing to bet its more.
I'd say its going to be a lot more, unless they have done this before. Just getting access to the area where you have to cut a hole in the firewall for the clutch master cylinder is a PITA. But, like I said, if they've done it before I'd maybe believe 10 hours.

ten hours???? hahaha yea right it didnt take me near that long to do mine, the only hard part is drilling holes (i had to drop the steering column) other than that its just like doing a clutch job.
but they are right, you are at a shops mercy IF you can find one to do it, cause most wont!!
and you dont NEED a lift
