best friction types?
Hello,
I am about to rebuild my '86 700r4 and am not yet sure which is the best type of clutches to use. I want to use better than stock material, but am unsure of the characteristics of the 'red eagle' VS 'raysbestos blue' types.
Some of the parts retailers say the blue ones are unsuitable for street use. Why is this?? Are the shifts too harsh or are there long term durability problems?
Any opinions appreciated!
Thanks,
Ben.

Having built hundreds of 700R4's, I have found that the Borg Warner Hi-Energy 3-4 clutches to be the best by far for Street/Strip setup, For Strip only the Raybestos Blue Plate Specials are good, but are they worth the extra money?, not that I can see. I have not had a 3-4 clutch failure in quite a few years. I attribute this to the BW clutches and Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, etc, and the small diameter (10" or less) torque converters.
