th 400 kick down switch...
As far as I know you are supposed to just hook up a 12 volt source to this. Now I am finding out that there is a switch that should be mounted near the carb or on the gas pedal.
Could someone please explan how this works and how it should be hooked up properly.

Cars that came with 400s used to have a switch mounted on teh gas pedal bracket, in the interior. When you floored it, it would send 12V to the kickdown solenoid, which would yank it down a gear or 2 depending on how fast the car was going. Quite simple and crude actually.

So it shouldnt have a 12 volt souce going to it as soon as ya turn the key?
