Will the B&M adapter kit work with the 9" tailshaft trans?

 

Yes, it should work with the 9" housing. You might have to
extend or modify the clamp to fit farther rearward than it would be on a 6" housing, since the 9" housing is bigger at that point.
The speedometer gear is in the same place on both housings, so
that won't be a problem.

 

I got the Hurst unit from a member on this board and the long tail fit right in, super slick. Just had to finagle the tranny lines a little to get them to screw into the new tranny.Thought it would suck swapping out, took only 2 1/2 hrs. and I was back on the road-probably one of the easiest tranny swaps I've ever performed, considering everything else on this car sucks to work on.

 

IHI- what did you use as your speedo driven gear????????

 

I drove by the tach on the street last year, now that the cars redone on the exterior, I'm currently installing the 99 bird interior, so I'll finish the already phantom gauges collection with the in dash tach and SPEEDO!! I have to get a new cable that'll screw into the back of the new speedo unit and also onto the TH350-buddy did the swap in his Malibu and the cable was all of $9.00 at O'reilleys. I have the math formula saved so I can get the right gear for the tranny and have the correct reading. Probably not what you wanted to hear-sorry.
