Engine: 305 tbi=LO3
Transmission: Automatic
rear end

can anyone tell me where i can find a decoder for rear ends? this site says that my car has a 2.73 but my dad doesnt think thats right (pontiac salesman) and i wanted to find out where i could decode the serial # . its 2252267 then either 6 or 8 i cant make out the last one exactly.

don't believe that's the number you need. haynes has a list in the drive train section, at least mine does. if all you want to know is the ratio or if it's posi pull the cover and look, only 100% sure way to know.

Screw the codes. Take off the cover and look.

Have you changed your rear end fluid lately? Then you need to. And you have to take the cover to do it right., Make a point of looking at the gears while you're doing the overdue scheduled maintenance.
