$1,200-$1,600 plus removal and installation unless you do that yourself. I also replaced my TV cable while I was at it. You should get a matched stall converter too.

Been there, done that. Depends how high po you want to go. How many horses are running through it? How many in the future? My setup was on a 4wd truck w/ a 700r4 with about 400 horses going through it, I had the shop that rebuit it put in a corvette servo, valve body kit, and performance clutches for $1200 including labor and tax. I NEVER had the first problem outta that tranny even with the towing / hauling I did with it. Sold the truck to a buddy of mine 4 years ago, (2 years after the rebuild) and to this day drives as good as the day I drove it home from the shop. The bill broke down to $1000 for the rebuild, $200 to pull and put the tranny back in. You can spend a bit more on it and go for the hardend input shaft, extra clutches, and goodies like that. Check with the shop that does the rebuild on the tranny and make sure they go through the tourque converter or replace it with a new one that will be a better choice for your setup.

Hope that helps.
