I recently went to a junkyard and bought an 85(i think) rear end from an s-10 pickup. It has factory 3.73's and posi and i know for a fact they are interchangeable into my 88 sport coupe. Now heres my question. Did that have the cone-type posi or the clutch-type posi and can anyone tell me the big difference. If it happens to be the cone-style how much load will it handle? Any help would be greatly appreciated or even any links to sites where i may find some answers.

The S-10 rear has the Eaton Gov-Lock unit, affectionately known even to users of those trucks with 4-cylinders as the "Grenade-Lock". It is not suitable as a performance item.

You are correct, you can install one in your car if you want to.
