Hi everyone. I have been offered a TH375 through a family member for cheap. I know some about the TH350, a little about the TH400, and enough about the 700R4 to know I don't want one!
My questions are these:
From what I know the 375 is a 350 with 400 parts, is that right?
So does it mount like a 350 or a 400? ( I know one is shorter)
Is it a reliable tranny for a 350CID motor?
With short gearing in the rear, am I going to really miss the overdrive?
Thanks a lot everyone!

From what i know it is a th350 case with 400 internals. It will bolt up just like a 350, i believe.
I wish i had one!

It's actually a T-400 with an T-350 sized output shaft.
It would be a little easier to get into one of these cars than a 400, because you wouldn't have to deal with the different size 400 yoke.

In some dimensions, yes. There's only one length of 375s, it's the same as one of the 400 shaft lengths, I can't recall which one.
well here is what I am after as far as size:
From the front (where it will mate to the engine) to where the shifter would go into the car, is there any difference in length?

ok, sounds good. lemme ask this then. I am looking at the B&M Megashifter. on the website it says it is compatable with the 400 and 350, thus it would be ok on the 375 too right?

i just got a 375 for free. the case is exactly the same as a th400 from the bell housing all the way to the output sfaht/tail housing, which is longer then a 400 is. thats the only difference i know of so far. my question is-is the 375 as strong as a 400? are the aftermarket build-up parts compatible?

With an automatic, the shifter doesn't hook directly into the tranny--it's cable driven. Any cable driven auto shifter will work, the console megashifter is easier because it fits the stock console. The th375 is a fine tranny, but if you have a choice get a th350 or th400(only if you need the extra strength, it waste's some power) or 700r4(they can be built plenty strong), that way you don't have to worry about replacement parts fitting.Originally posted by shadow350

I don't know how I can put this any plainer. It's so identical, that one time, even a GM tech that builds transmissions tried to give me a freshly-built 375 for my car that uses a 400; when I told him it wasn't a 400, he told me I was full of excrement, he bought the kit and built it himslef and knew it had to be, it wasn't until I made him go get a T-400 yoke and try to put it in, that he admitted I was right. Of course, you think he would have noticed that he couldn't install the ext hsg bushing & seal that came in the kit; that should have told him something was up.It's actually a T-400 with an T-350 sized output shaft.
