OK, ungood stuff happens once again. I was running my car a little hard and when I slapped it up into third gear, it made a loud "clunk" and afterwards whenever the clutch pedal is released it makes a noise (almost sounds like a bunch of marbles under water). The noise's loudness is dependant upon engine RPMs, and goes away when the clutch is pressed.

Does anyone know what I've broken this time? Any help will be appreciated. I will be tearing this apart as soon as convenient, so getting info with the quickness would be beneficial.

Sounds like the trans is damaged.

One of my buddies said it could be the throwout bearing, but it was brand new when I put it in 3 weeks ago. I personally can't conceive how dumping the clutch would screw it up.

you dinged something in the tranny, maybe a tooth or an engagement dog

Hi.
Your clutch bearing is kaput.
Can happen early if clutch play was improperly adjusted when replaced.

Clutch play is self adjusted on a hydraulic setup, isn't it?

Decided to bite the bullet and drive the car a bit to try to pinpoint the noise. Here's what I found.

car is STILL, clutch is DEPRESSED, shifter is in ANY GEAR or NEUTRAL: NO NOISE

car is STILL, clutch is RELEASED, shifter is in NEUTRAL: NOISE DEPENDANT ON ENGINE RPMs

car is MOVING, clutch is DEPRESSED, shifter is in NEUTRAL: NO NOISE

car is MOVING, clutch is RELEASED, shifter is in NEUTRAL: NOISE DEPENDANT ON ENGINE RPMs

car is MOVING, clutch is RELEASED, shifter is in FORWARD GEAR: NOISE DEPENDANT ON ENGINE RPMs

car is MOVING, clutch is DEPRESSED, shifter is in FORWARD GEAR: NOISE DEPENDANT ON GEAR SELECTED/ROAD SPEED

It can be felt in the gear stick. Thinking about what goes on inside the gearbox at each of these specific times mentioned, it seems the noise is only present when the input shaft and countershaft are turning. Sounds to me like I've busted my first T5.

Precisely....

They usually tear up at the gear where the clutch gear meets the countergear.

If this is a t-5 and hammered it from 2nd to 3rd , and you have some miles on the trans . You probably lost 3rd gear . or lost some teeth off the gears . If you have done this repair it know , don't drive around with it , or you will have metal chipps in every bearing scar shafts , and cost alot more money to rebuild
