4.10 gears with a 700R4?

Anyone have this combo? If so, what can I expect top speed to be. What will RPM's be at highway speed...like 70-75mph? Any help would be much appreciated.

The top speed depends on your motor also. What size tire are you running?

Stock tire height, and it's a tbi 305. I don't really care about top speed too much, I just want to know what RPM's to expect on the highway.

4.10 gears would be too low for your particular car, my buddy has a 91 RS with a TBI 305, he put a new rear end in it and he wanted 4.10 gears, the people at the shop said thats too low, i would suggest 3.73 gears, they make a huge difference from the stock gears, he had 2.73, it made a considerable difference, thats just an opinion though, go with what u think is right

I agree with 89' rs/blue

that's pretty steep gearing, for an lo3 especially when your peak torque and hp, are in the lower rpm's stock. and also the rpm calculator says about 2600 rpm's at 70 with stock size tires. which is also quite a bit. I would suggest 3.73's, or even 3.42's would be better with the l03's powerband. and would provide much better highway milage, while still making your car quite a bit peppier. rpm calculator says at 70 you will be turning about 2360 with 3.73's, and about 2165 with 3.42's, and the best thing about 3.73's, and 3.42's, is that they came stock in alot of the earlier thirdgens, and would be easier to get ahold of, where as 4.10's I don't believe came stock in any year thridgen, so you would have to have the new ring gears installed or adapt another rear to fit your car. either can be a bit spendy compared to picking up a complete 10bolt, with mabee even posi stock, that would be a direct bolt on.

just my $0.02
